Regular Trash Collection
Service Provided:

-Twice a week curbside collection for each residential unit.
-Bags and bundles, weighing no more than 35 pounds each, must be placed at curbside by 7:00 a.m. on your designated collection day.
-Bags not placed at curbside, or refuse not in a bag, will not be collected.
-Broken or torn bags will not be picked up.  The resident is responsible for picking up and rebagging waste.
-No more than FIVE (5) bags of household garbage, grass clippings, and/or leaves will be picked up.
-Waste must be in plastic refuse bags having a minimum thickness of two mil.  The bags must be securely tied and placed at curbside.
-Approved plastic trash bags may be purchased at City Hall.
-All small brush and limbs must be cut into lengths of no more than 36 inches and tied into bundles weighing no more than 35 pounds.

 

 

How do I keep Animals out of my trash?

If you are bothered with animals getting into your garbage, before closing plastic bags, pour in one ounce of household ammonia.  This will discourage them from tearing open the bags and scattering the garbage.

Special Residential Trash Pickup

The City conducts special trash pickups to provide better customer service and improve the efficiency of the City's operations.
-Each residence will receive one free pickup annually of up to six cubic yards of brush, trash and other items that cannot be picked up as part of the regular twice-weekly household trash pickup.
-Pickups will be made on regular working days normally within 24 hours of notice from the resident that the trash is ready for pickup.
-Residents may call City Hall and arrange for the pickup during normal business hours.
-All materials must be placed at the curb.
-Items to be picked up can only be placed on the curb Saturday through Thursday.
-If the items to be picked up are greater than six cubic yards, require special handling, or if a resident needs additional pickups, the charge is based on volume with a minimum charge of $50.00.
-If items require special disposal fees or other special handling costs, including additional equipment or personnel, the person requesting the service will pay this cost.
-The City Code Enforcement Officer will determine charges. If charges are required, the resident will pay the charges at City Hall during regular business hours in advance of the pickup.
-If the resident has a good credit standing with the City, charges may be billed to their water bill by making arrangements with City Hall.

-Furniture
-Appliances not containing freon or other hazardous materials
-Passenger car and light truck tires - limit of four.  Resident must pay any required state fee(s).

Restrictions

To keep the customer's cost as low as possible and have an efficient and effective service, the following restrictions apply:
-This free service is available only to residential customers.  Commercial customers can arrange for similar pickups, however, the charges will apply to all commercial service.
-If a commercial tree service or other similar service has trimmed a customer's trees or brush, there will be no free pickup.  If a customer desires to have the City remove brush and limbs, the customer will be charged at the regular rate.
-Small brush, leaves, and limbs are not included in the special trash pickup.  These should be cut into 36-inch lengths and tied into bundles and placed at curbside for regular trash pickup.
-Anyone failing to comply will be required to pay for all pickup services.

-Used motor oil and filters
-Any items containing freon or other refrigerants
-Cans of liquid paint
-Large auto parts
-Large equipment tires

-Shingles
-Other similar items
