The Street Department, under the direction of Mr. McElhaney, provides for the routine maintenance of city streets, traffic signs, street markers, clearing of right-of-ways and street sweeping. The Street Department also maintains the City's parks and cemeteries.
The main thorough fares though downtown Pittsburg are State Highway 11 and Texas Loop 238. Both are Texas State highways and are managed and maintained by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). When problems occur on these roads, Pittsburg works closely with TxDOT to correct the problems to ensure the safety of our citizens.
